Cunnigar Ladies Runners-up in Bruff

Inter-Club Competition Finals

The Cunnigar "A " Ladies team travelled to Bruff Pitch and Putt Club,  Limerick, on Saturday, October 26th, to contest the finals of the inaugural Inter-Club Competition.
This team had only lost one game thus far in the league stages and had done extremely well to reach the finals of the competition.
On a very wet and windy course in Bruff, Co.Limerick, they beat off the challenge of the Bellewstown Ladies team in the semi-final.
The final, in which they faced a strong Riverdale team from Nenagh, took place in very poor weather conditions which turned the contest into somewhat of a lottery. In the end the Tipperary Ladies won, but all credit to the 6 Cunnigar Ladies who represented this club with distinction all through this very tough competition.

Cunnigar Ladies Team in Inter Club Competition Finals

The whole club wishes the best of luck to the Cunnigar Ladies team  who travel to Bruff Pitch and Putt Club,  Limerick, on Saturday next, October 26^th, to contest the semi-final (and hopefully the final also) of the inaugural Inter-Club Competition. This ladies team has only lost one game so far and has done extremely well to reach this stage of the competition and, with any luck, can go all the way and win the Trophy.

Men's Interclub Match Report, Saturday April 27th.

Cunnigar Team v Tipperary Hills

 

Our Men's Interclub team got the 2013 Inter/Junior competition underway with a match v Tipperary Hills on Saturday, April 27^th, at Tramore Pitch and Putt Club. The Tramore course was, as usual, a very significant challenge with it’s customary lightning fast greens. As this was the Cunnigar club’s first experience of this format, the game was approached with a certain amount of trepidation. In the end, the Tipperary Club took the honours with a 6 games to 3 victory. The experience of this match will, undoubtedly, benefit our team for their next encounter in this Competition. Our next game is a tough encounter against Pfizer Pitch and Putt Club, Cork. This game will take place at the Claycastle course in Youghal in May. The exact date has yet to be finalised.

 

First games in Ladies Interclub Competition

Best of luck to our two Ladies teams who travel to Hillview Pitch and Putt Club, Clonmel on Saturday, April 20 to take part in the first games of the 2013 Interclub Competition. Cunnigar A will take on the Riverdale Club at 2pm. This game will be preceded by the game between Cunnigar B and Lakeside. Both Tipperary teams will be tough opposition for the Cunnigar Ladies, so these are two games to look forward to.

Men's Interclub Match, Saturday April 27th.

Our Men's Interclub team gets the 2013  Inter/Junior competition underway with a match v Tipperary Hills at 11am on Saturday, April 27th at Tramore Pitch and Putt Club. Everyone is really looking forward to what will be a new experience for all our players i.e. playing in a team environment.  No doubt, the men from Tipp will be looking to get a win under their belts also, so it should be an exciting and very enjoyable match. The Tramore course is always maintained to a very high standard, so everything is in place for this eagerly awaited encounter.

Teams for Inter-Club Competition

In the upcoming Inter-Club Competition, Cunnigar will be represented by two Ladies teams and one Gents team.

Ladies Team A: Mary O’Neill, Corinne McGee, Stella Kinsella, Cáit Mulcahy, Breda O’Donnell, Lorraine Troy.

Ladies Team B: Mary Walsh, Marie Forde, Kathleen Foran, Bridget Walsh, Mary Daly, Maureen Widger.

Men’s Team: Michael Delaney, Patsy Hackett, Paul Healy, Ger O’Brien, Aidan O’Rourke, Paddy Noonan, Chris Wall, Finbarr O’Rourke, Daniel Keoghan, John Charles.

The first games in this competition will take place on the weekend of April 20^th/21st.

Update on teams for Inter Club Competition

 Our club will be entering teams in the Ladies Competition, and in the Gents Intermediate-Junior Combined Competition. We can enter unlimited Ladies teams, but only one Gents team. Any Ladies who wish to play are asked to contact Jacinta O’Mahoney or Mary O’Neill. As there will be only one Gents team, this team will be selected on the basis of a series of trials which will take place over the next couple of weeks. Anyone who wishes to be considered for these trials is asked to enter his name on the sheet that is posted in the clubhouse. The inter-club competition will be taking place at weekends, and will involve travelling to other clubs. Members are urged not to put their names forward if they will be unavailable at weekends. This competition commences on the weekend of 20th, 21st April.
