The 2013 Munster Mixed Foursomes Competition took Place last Sunday, September 1^st, at the splendid Lakewood Pitch and Putt Club, Templemore, Co. Tipperary. Cunnigar was represented by two teams. Defending champions Stella Kinsella and John Charles were accompanied by the pairing of Mary Walsh and Paddy Noonan. After two rounds, Mary and Paddy were tied for first place with the Lakeside team. A score count back was undertaken and the title was awarded to the local team because of their slightly better second round. Stella and John also finished strongly and finished in the top 5.

All in all, it was a great display by the two Cunnigar teams.

 

MUNSTER TITLE FOR CUNNIGAR DUO

Congratulations to Stella Kinsella and John Charles who are the new Munster Mixed Foursomes Champions. With a score of +14, they emerged victorious in the Munster Mixed Foursomes played at a sunny Crosshaven on Sunday April 22nd. This winning score was exceptionally good bearing in mind the testing and demanding Crosshaven course.They had a winning margin of 2 holes over second placed Nora & Jim Hanover (Ballinlough) who had carded an impressive +12 in the first session.
The gross section was won by Tipperary Hills duo Breda Lonergan & Michael Brennan (Tipperary Hills) with an excellent score of +5.

This competition has been won by Cunnigar teams three times in the past 4 years, a very good record indeed.

Cunnigar Team Wins Munster Mixed Foursomes Title

Mary O’Neill & Patsy Hackett were popular winners of the Munster Mixed Foursomes held at Lakewood, Cork, last Sunday August 28th. 40 teams had qualified to contest this year’s event, Cunnigar being represented by 5 teams. Leading after an opening +7, the winners added a further +5 to close with their winning total of +12, which was tremendous scoring on the demanding Lakewood course. All 5 Cunnigar teams played exceptionally well, with Stella Kinsella & John Charles taking the prize for the best second 18, scoring +6.
