Thomas Frostie Maher Memorial Cup

Thomas (Frostie) Maher  Saturday

A brilliant day and a great turnout for Frosties Memorial day.
It shows what we at the Cunnigar thought of the man.  As was stated by 'Patrick Keane' he was our go to man whether it was the greens, fairways, machines that needed to be adjusting, if it was a question about handicaps or any rule that we weren't sure of, he was able to answer straight away.
He will always be remembered with high esteem at the Cunnigar.
The Maher family kindly donated the takings which currently stand at over 1,550 euro to the Patrick Keane stem cell fund.
Patrick gave a great speech and thanked everyone for their generosity, and later spoke of his desire to take part in Frosties Day 2020.

We look forward to seeing you again Patrick.

Thomas 'Frostie' Maher. 2017

in the photo which i will send seperately is Catherine Maher and Mary Regan who made the draw for Frostie's game

Thomas (Frostie) Maher Perpetual Cup
Unfortunately this game was cancelled due to the inclement weather.
But thanks to our members, the Maher family and friends we were all able to raise over a thousand euro for the Deise Day Care Centre and Deise Animal Centre.
This game will be played as soon as possible in the New Year.
This amount (and still more to come) shows the popularity of our dear friend Thomas 'Frostie' Maher.

Thomas (Frostie) Maher R.I.P Perpetual Cup

Thomas (Frostie) Maher R.I.P Perpetual Cup

On Sunday last we held a Mixed Foursomes game in honour of 'Frostie' who was a very well respected member of our club.

There was a great turnout on the day, and competition was fierce as everyone wanted their name to be first on the cup.
We would like to thank the Maher family for presenting the prizes and then unvailing the seat in honour of 'Frostie'.
Frostie must have been looking down on us as the weather was glorious and everyone had a smile on their face.
Mrs Maher presented the perpetual cup to the overall winners and afterwards the unveiling of the seat took place.
All proceeds will be presented to the local hospital in Dungarvan.

Pipped at the post were Corinne McGee and Aiden O'Rourke to the overall winners of Bridget Walsh and Declan Byrne.

Well done to all who played.

THOMAS "FROSTY" MAHER

THOMAS "FROSTY" MAHER

The Cunnigar Pitch and Putt Club would like to send their deepest sympathy to the Maher family on the untimely death of Thomas.

"Frosty" as he was affectionately known was involved with the club for almost 25 years.
He loved to go down to the club early and play 2 rounds then take out machines and work away on the course.
He was the most knowledgeable of men, whether  it was the rules of the game, green keeping, sprays or any questions about pitch and putt, Frosty was the man we all went to for the answer.
He didn't say much but when he did you would listen and learn a lot.
Frosty was a hard worker and great club member.
He was a true gentleman who will be sadly missed and was a pleasure to have known.
Rest in peace
"Frosty"
