Chairman's Day 2013 Results and Pictures

 

Despite the ambiguity of the weather forecast, it was decided that our Chairman’s Day competition, hosted by Martin Shanahan, would go ahead on Monday, October 28^th, and it proved to be an inspired decision. In what could only be described as perfect weather conditions, the large number of competitors had a wonderful morning to contest this very popular tournament. The competition was a 36 hole singles competition, Ladies and Men, and there were some phenomenal scores achieved in the near perfect conditions. In the end there were two very popular winners. Lorraine Troy won the Ladies competition for the third year running. Lorraine scored a fantastic 2 under par total and was a very deserving winner. This lady has had her best year yet at pitch and putt, and this is evidenced by her plummeting handicap. The future looks very bright for this determined competitor.

Liam Simms won the Men’s competition. What a player Liam has become. This is his first year at the sport, and his steady improvement all year culminated in a 5 under par total for this competition which was more than good enough to see off all the other competitors. I must mention that Liam has been a fantastic addition to our club. His work behind the scenes, to keep our facilities to the high standards that we aspire to, often goes unnoticed and the club is indebted to him for his great enthusiasm and hard work.

In his address to all at the prize giving ceremony, our Chairman, Martin Shanahan, thanked the large number of competitors who took part. Martin enthused about the great club spirit that was evident on the day and thanked the people behind the scenes who made the competition the success that it turned out to be.

Cunnigar Ladies Runners-up in Bruff

Inter-Club Competition Finals

The Cunnigar "A " Ladies team travelled to Bruff Pitch and Putt Club,  Limerick, on Saturday, October 26th, to contest the finals of the inaugural Inter-Club Competition.
This team had only lost one game thus far in the league stages and had done extremely well to reach the finals of the competition.
On a very wet and windy course in Bruff, Co.Limerick, they beat off the challenge of the Bellewstown Ladies team in the semi-final.
The final, in which they faced a strong Riverdale team from Nenagh, took place in very poor weather conditions which turned the contest into somewhat of a lottery. In the end the Tipperary Ladies won, but all credit to the 6 Cunnigar Ladies who represented this club with distinction all through this very tough competition.

TF McCarthy Memorial Juveniles Shootout

 

 Corinne McGee (Juv. Off.), Kyle Hackett, Dan McCarthy (Sponsor), Stephen Donovan (Winner), Aidan Ryan.

This Juveniles competition was held on Sunday, October 27th. After a great  fun competition, the winner was Stephen Donovan. The club is extremely  grateful to Dan McCarthy who sponsors this event.

Cunnigar Ladies Team in Inter Club Competition Finals

The whole club wishes the best of luck to the Cunnigar Ladies team  who travel to Bruff Pitch and Putt Club,  Limerick, on Saturday next, October 26^th, to contest the semi-final (and hopefully the final also) of the inaugural Inter-Club Competition. This ladies team has only lost one game so far and has done extremely well to reach this stage of the competition and, with any luck, can go all the way and win the Trophy.
