HOSTS OF GENTS ALL IRELAND STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015

VANDALISM AT CUNNIGAR PITCH AND PUTT CLUB

JUST 5 WEEKS AWAY FROM THE GENTS NATIONAL STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS OUR CLUB HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO MINDLESS VANDALISM ON OUR 18TH FEATURE GREEN. 

THIS HAS BEEN NURTURED ALONG FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS AND WAS IN PRISTINE CONDITON FOR THE FORTHCOMING EVENT.

WITH ALL THE HARD WORK THAT HAS BEEN PUT INTO KEEPING THE COURSE AND CLUB IN THE EXCELLENT CONDITION IT IS KNOWN WORLD WIDE FOR, OUR LOYAL MEMBERS AND VISITORS WILL NOT LET THIS DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOUR RUIN OUR ENJOYMENT OF THE GAME HERE AT THE CUNNIGAR.

Fundraiser For The Club

We are looking for unwanted clothes, bags, shoes, bed linen, towels, curtains, belts and soft toys, also laptops and phones with leads are accepted so anyone with anything to give us can tell a committee member or bring it to our club house before 15th July 2015.

Coaching Lessons

Any one interested in coaching can come along on a Wednesday evening at 7pm  for the month of June.

Our next committee meeting will be on 2nd July after the game this is an important one before the Gents National Strokeplay Championships.

Juvenile Competitions

The juvenile league is now underway, theres a great turnout every sunday and all are enjoying the leagues.
All members are welcome to play at 1pm, Sundays
This week we held a Nett competiton with Fionn Nagle  in the lead with 24 points, James O'Donnell is 2nd with 20 points, Louis Simms and Jamie Healy closely following with 16 points and Rory Mulcahy has 12 points and Jamie Mulcahy with 8 points.

Hole in One

Last year we held a Hole in one competiton

 so we will continue with a prize for the most hole in ones during the club competiton season this year as it proved very popular.

There's fierce competiton already with everyone trying to get the ultimate hole in one.

To date Patsy Hackett (3), Paddy Noonan (2) , Liam Simms(2), Michael Ahearne, Declan Byrne each have one each.

Breda O'Donnell (2) and Jacinta O'Mahoney (2) and Cait Mulcahy, Bridget Walsh, Mary O'Neill has now has a hole in one for the womens section.

Bonus Number

Bonus number 10 the  winner this week  was Patsy Hackett.

Pitch Marks

Leaving Pitch Marks when playing destroys the greens, it takes a lot of care and attention to keep them in pristine condition, so all members and green fees are asked to repair them and use the correct repairer when doing so.

Also do not use the club head to take balls out of holes on greens as this damages the hole.

If anyone has an hour or two Mondays to Fridays to spare to give a hand helping on the course you would be very welcome.

Did you know?

The flag must be removed from the hole and placed off the green when putting.

Qualifiers for Munster Strokeplay

We are pleased to say that Colin Houlihan qualified on sunday for the Intermediate grade, and John Charles and Declan Byrne qualified for the Junior Section of the Munster Strokeplay Finals which will be held in Riverdale, Cork.

The Hill Walking Club

The Hill Walking Club on Friday last paid a visit to our course, there was upwards on 20 played.

They thouroughly enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing them again.

HOSTS OF GENTS ALL IRELAND STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015

On Saturday morning last the Cunnigar team had a great win against last years winners St Patricks of Enniscrthy, St Pats were the hottest of favourites going into this game, and were expected to win comfortably.

The first pairing out were Patsy Hackett and Paul Healy, even though the lads played very good pitch and putt they came up short against a very strong St Pats duo.  Next up were Declan Byrne and Aiden O'Rourke who were both on top of their game and came out winners, the third pairing were Finbarr O'Rourke and Paul Reardon who both played top class pitch and putt to beat their opponents to lead the score 2 points to 1 after the doubles.

Paddy Noonan had a great singles win to set the tone for what was to follow, wins for Declan and Paul made it 5 points to the Cunnigar, Michael A'Hearne was very unlucky to lose his game, with Aiden and Finbarr also losing their games in the singles.

The next juvenile league will consist of different games again, which our juveniles found to be thoroughly enjoyable. and will be starting on June 14th at 1pm, this will be played over a 4 week period.

When a ball lies in a sand bunker the player shall not

1     touch the ground in the sand bunker with a club

2     touch or move a loose impediment in the sand bunker

3     test the condition of the sand bunker
