We had a great turnout on Sunday, September 15th, for our annual fundraising competition, which, this year, was supporting the RNLI Helvick Lifeboat. The prizes for this worthwhile event were kindly sponsored by

2nd place at Munster Mixed Foursomes

Mary Walsh and Paddy Noonan – Munster Mixed Foursomes runners-up

The 2013 Munster Mixed Foursomes Competition took Place last Sunday, September 1^st, at the splendid Lakewood Pitch and Putt Club, Templemore, Co. Tipperary. Cunnigar was represented by two teams. Defending champions Stella Kinsella and John Charles were accompanied by the pairing of Mary Walsh and Paddy Noonan. After two rounds, Mary and Paddy were tied for first place with the Lakeside team. A score count back was undertaken and the title was awarded to the local team because of their slightly better second round. Stella and John also finished strongly and finished in the top 5.

All in all, it was a great display by the two Cunnigar teams.

 

Juvenile Matchplay Results

In the first Juvenile Matchplay Competition of the year, the much deserved winner was Stephen Donovan, who survived some titanic games to emerge as the winner, closely followed by Kyle Hackett, who played tremendously to reach the final. In third place was Ronan Geoghegan, who, in his first year at the club, has come on leaps and bounds and was very worthy of third place.

The Juvenile Scratch Cup (Sponsored By Johnny Lynch Fruit and Veg) will take place on September 22^nd.

The Munster Schools Competition takes place on 11^th October at Riverdale Pitch and Putt Club, Nenagh, Co Tipperary. Anyone who wishes to take part is urged to contact Corinne or Patsy as practice sessions will commence as soon as practicable.

Juvenile Competitions are now being held every Sunday at 2pm, and are a great opportunity to get practice done for the Schools competition.

Cunnigar to host National Gents Strokeplay Championships in 2015

We are delighted to announce that our bid to host the 2015 National Gents Strokeplay Championships has been successful. This will be a great opportunity for our club to celebrate our 25th anniversary and to showcase the fantastic course and facilities that have been developed here in Dungarvan...... from a humble beginning to a top class facility in 25years. Let the preparations begin!!

The 2013 Lady Captains Prize Competition 2013 took place on Monday, August 5^th. This year’s Captain, Jacinta O’Mahoney, left no stone unturned in her preparation for this competition, and what a competition it turned out to be. In very pleasant conditions, some great scores were carded, and at the end of competition, Margaret Shanahan emerged as the very popular overall winner. Addressing the competitors at the prize giving ceremony, Jacinta thanked all the ladies for their support throughout the year.

Congratulations to all the juvenile competitors who took part in the Juvenile shield competition which is kindly sponsored by Deise Golf World, Dungarvan. Joe Harte emerged as the winner of this very competitive competition. Cunnigar Pitch and Putt Club is very appreciative of the involvement of Graham Nagle (Deise Golf World) in this competition, as sponsorship is vitally important for the advancement of our Juvenile game.

Despite the ominous looking cloud formation that hung over the course last Sunday morning, July 28^th, the Captain’s Prize competition, hosted by the 2013 Captain John Charles, went ahead as planned and, luckily, the rain stayed away for the duration of play. The turnout was smaller than expected (possibly due to the weather), but nevertheless a very good competition was held. A “Nearest the Pin” shootout was also held, and this proved to be great fun for all the competitors. The caterers once again came up trumps and looked after everyone with their usual culinary wizardry. All in all it was a great success and well done to John Charles and his team for such a wonderful event.
