Pictured above are Paddy Noonan, Cáit Mulcahy
and Michael Delaney who won their respective County Championships on Sunday,
May 26th.
The Waterford Strokeplay Championships were
held at Cunnigar last Sunday, May 26th. It was great to see such
great support for these championships again this year. The weather was ideal
for pitch and putt, and the course was in fantastic condition and is a credit
to the lads who put so much of their time and effort into maintaining our top
class course. Many of the players from the visiting clubs remarked on the
quality of the greens and fairways and on the fact that our club has very
picturesque surroundings, which are more noticeable when the weather is good,
as it was on Sunday.
When everyone had completed 36 holes, our
club emerged with three new County Champions……Cáit Mulcahy in the Ladies
Junior, Paddy Noonan in the Gents Junior and Michael Delaney in The Gents
Intermediate. Another feature of these championships was the phenomenal score of
20 under par achieved by Eddie Hennessy (Ashgrove) in the Gents Senior Championship.
All in all, it was a most enjoyable day, and
everyone who took part enjoyed the event.
